Studies show that a country’s economy is more productive when the number of educated workers increases, but what kind of growth is that Education is often centered as a solution for social disparities while workers still respond to an economic system that promotes competition over cooperation. Join Carina Kampter, Jan-Philipp Brinkmann-Acunã, and Mercè Carreras-Solanas for the next ECOnGOOD Conversation, which will explore this important transformation pillar. The seminar will address how education fosters new economic systems such as the Economy for the Common Good.

Carina Kamptner is a program manager at OeAD student housing and leads the international summer university Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems (AEMS). The program brings together students, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to explore pathways toward a sustainable and just economic and monetary system.

Jan Philipp Brinkmann HOLDS A Master’s in Intercultural Communication and Education and HAS completed the training as a Consultant for the Economy for the Common Good at the University of Valencia. Since 2014, HE HELPED DEVELOP the Education Hub Germany, AND Since 2022, HE HAS been coordinating the International Education Hub, and working as an Educator and Trainer of the Economy for the Common Good.

Mercè Carreras-Solanas is Associate Professor in the Department of Economy and Coordinator of the Economy for the Common Good at the University of Barcelona. PhD and Bachelor in Economics and Business from the University of Barcelona, she currently heads Barcelona-Shanghai Women Bridge (BSWomenB-GWUB) online platform that links entrepreneurs and professionals from different generations living in the catchment area of Barcelona, Shanghai, Houston and Buenos Aires.

The session will be moderated by Sophie Gripenberg, Communication Manager, Science & Research and EU Policy Coordinator at ECOnGOOD.
